Somethings Always Coming You Can Hear It In The Ground

A Poem for Sarah <3 Graduation.

If I could express how you make me proud
There would be absolutely nothing in this world.
That could stop me from rejoicing however loud
In my love and adoration for this girl

Our friendship began eight years ago
We didn't realize how beautiful it would be
Sitting in homeroom miserable at Sligo
Notes passed as far as the eye can see

After wars with neighbors in our clubhouse van
And Photomania shots in Wheaton mall
Laying on decks trying to get a tan
Finally within higher walls

Freshman Year at Northwood High
With radio, class, boyfriends and sports
to the day of silence where we sat and cried
And when I earned the name Scotty for forgetting my shorts

Then time passed, as did some friends
And through the school system we were split apart
Though we've learned that sometimes great things end
We've learned from endings come fresh starts

For all those times with Jon we look back ask why?
For all the times things seemed Forever Blue
I know if he were here now there'd be tears in his eyes
He'd be so proud of you.

In the last couple of years you've watched your friends grow
And been there every step of the way with love and concern
And you've waved us off to wherever we go
And today, my dear Sarah, it is your turn.

As we stand here to honor you- your perserverance, your achievement, your resilience, your character, your beauty, your mind and the opportunities that await you, I can honestly say I am the proudest person on the planet and I can't wait to be a part of the next chapter of your life. Congratulations babe- you did it! It's all you. <3
